High-temperature red RTV silicone for forming gaskets or coating pre-cut gaskets in automotive and heavy-duty applications.

Permatex 81409 is a red RTV silicone gasket maker supplied in an 11 oz pack. It is formulated for high-temperature applications and heavy-duty use, including applications such as towing, while resisting automotive and workshop fluids.

Suitable automotive applications

The silicone can be used to make formed-in-place gaskets for applications including valve covers, oil pans, timing covers, water pumps, thermostat housings and transmission pans. It can also be used to coat pre-cut gaskets to help improve their reliability.

Temperature range

The stated operating range is -54°C to 343°C (-65°F to 650°F) intermittently. The formed-in-place gasket is designed to resist cracking, shrinking and migration caused by thermal cycling.
