SPTA 3-Piece Yellow Medium Cut Polishing Pads, 125mm

What the pad design is trying to do

Medium cut sponge pads for compounding, polishing and waxing, with a grooved design to help manage polish and heat.

These SPTA sponge polishing pads are set up for compounding, polishing and waxing work on a car polisher. The selected 125mm size makes them relevant if you are matching the pad to a 125mm backing plate, while the yellow medium cut finish gives you a pad aimed at the middle ground between heavier correction and finer finishing.

The grooved face is there to hold excess polishing paste and abrasive while also helping air move through the pad. That helps reduce heat build-up during use, which is one of the main things that can make polishing awkward if residue starts to clog the pad.

The pads are made from high density polyurethane sponge with uniform pores and a soft, flexible feel. According to the listing, that construction is intended to give good ventilation, even elasticity and stronger durability in use.

Fitting and day-to-day use

The backing uses Velcro fastening for quick changes on the machine. That makes it easier to swap pads during a correction or detailing session without slowing the job down.

• Pack of 3 yellow medium cut pads

• Suitable for compounding, polishing and waxing tasks

Care points before and after use

The listing advises cleaning the pad when grinding residue builds up, then cleaning it again after use. It also says not to use solvents or alkaline cleaners when cleaning the polishing wheel.

If you are choosing pads for a specific machine or backing plate, it is worth checking the pad size in the listing against your setup before ordering.
