PROTEX Convertible Soft Top Canvas Cleaner, 1 Litre

How the cleaner is used

Deep-cleans convertible canvas soft tops and helps prevent green mildew, with 1 litre covering roughly one 4-seater car top.

This PROTEX cleaner is for the first stage of soft top restoration, where the job is to lift built-up dirt before any restorer or waterproofer goes on. It is formulated to deep clean canvas convertible roofs and help prevent the growth of green mildew, while removing everyday contamination such as bird droppings, road salt, tree sap, mildew and mould.

The 1 litre bottle is said to be enough for a soft top on a 4-seater car. Because canvas dyes can vary, the listing advises testing a small hidden area first to check the fabric is colourfast. It should also not be applied in direct sunlight, as drying too quickly can stop the cleaner working properly.

• Lightly dampen the soft top before applying the cleaner.
• Apply it with a clean paintbrush, starting in the middle and working out towards the edges.
• Take care not to get it on the vehicle’s paintwork.
• Leave it for 15 minutes so it can penetrate the canvas.
• Gently scrub with hot water and a stiff brush, then rinse well with clean cold water and allow it to dry.

After cleaning

PROTEX recommends following up with Canvas Restorer and/or Canvas Waterproofer to restore and protect the roof after cleaning.
