BATOCA buying guide

BATOCA T1 or S5: which polisher fits your job?

For bonnets, roofs and doors, start with the corded T1 and its 5-inch backing plate. For narrow pillars, small sections and awkward contours, compare the cordless S5 with its smaller plates and interchangeable shafts.

Our recommendation is based on working size and power source. The S5 is a useful detail tool alongside a larger machine; being cordless does not make it the obvious choice for polishing a whole car.

Choose T1 for broad panel work

If you have a power socket and mainly want to work across doors, a bonnet or a roof, the 5-inch T1 is the more practical starting point. Its larger format still needs room around trim and edges.

Choose S5 for smaller areas

The S5 makes sense when access is your main problem, or when you already have a larger polisher. Select a plate and shaft combination permitted by the exact kit instructions.

What is included, and what else will you need?

A pad kit is only part of the setup. Neither of these two listings names a polishing compound or finishing polish in its included components.

T1 Green: machine, pads and handles

The listed pack has the machine, a 5-inch backing plate, five polishing pads, four wool pads and five bonnets. It also lists side and D handles, disposable gloves, a microfibre towel, two carbon brushes and a manual.

S5 Black: batteries and detail accessories

The listing includes two 12 V 2.0 Ah batteries, a charger, 1-, 2- and 3-inch plates, polishing pads, shafts and an extension rod. A tool bag, towel, gloves, apron and sandpaper are also listed.

Before you order

Check the complete setup, not just the machine

Match the pad and liquid

Choose a compound or polish for the paint and defect, then follow its pad guidance. Compare the pad face and backing-plate sizes separately. Our SPTA pad collection is a starting point for checking replacement options.

Check the S5 shaft limits

For the linked S5 Black kit, the listing permits 1- and 2-inch plates on the straight shaft, and 1-, 2- and 3-inch plates on the eccentric shaft. Extension rods are for the straight shaft only.

Confirm the UK version

Check the selected colour, included accessories and UK-compatible machine or charger before paying. Other S5 listings may have different plates or accessories; the model name alone does not define the pack.

Prepare and inspect first

Work on clean, cool paint and test a mild combination on a small section. Deep damage, thin paint and edges need particular care. See hand polishing vs machine polishing before choosing a process.

Common BATOCA buying questions

Is the S5 a cordless replacement for the T1?

They cover different working sizes. The T1 has a 5-inch plate; the linked S5 kit goes up to 3 inches. For larger panels without a cable, compare the wider cordless polisher range as well.

How long will an S5 battery last while polishing?

BATOCA quotes up to 40 minutes without load. That is not a measured polishing runtime: load, speed and how you work affect battery use. We have not tested runtime ourselves.

Is a dual-action machine safe for every paint defect?

No machine makes every defect safely removable. Paint condition, pad, liquid, pressure and technique all matter. Start with a small test section and avoid chasing damage that may need a repair.
